Tulkarm: Israeli forces continue assault on city and camp for 8th day in a row

TULKARM, February 3, 2025 (WAFA) - The Israeli occupation forces continued the aggression on the city of Tulkarm and its camp for the eighth consecutive day, amidst the deployment of more military vehicles, raiding and vandalizing homes, forcing their residents to flee, and detaining Palestinian young men.

The occupation forces raided at dawn today civilian homes in the suburb of Ezbet al-Tayah, south of Tulkarm city, and detained five young men, including two brothers.

The occupation forces continue to besiege the Martyr Thabet Thabet Governmental Hospital and the Israa Specialized Hospital, obstructing the work of ambulances and their medical crews, and subjecting them to search and field investigation, while turning the surrounding buildings into military outposts and sniper locations.

Israeli occupation forces are still sending more of their vehicles to the city and its camp from the Tsnaoz military camp, west of Tulkarm, and deploying large numbers of infantry patrols in the streets, neighborhoods and in the middle of the vegetable market, and are combing and searching between houses and alleys and harassing civilians.

The occupation forces have escalated the violations against citizens in the city and its camp, through a series of attacks that included raiding homes, expelling their owners, vandalizing and stealing their contents, blowing up and destroying a number of them, in addition to restricting movement, while seizing commercial and residential buildings and turning them into military outposts and places for their snipers.

Last night, the occupation vehicles destroyed a number of vegetable stalls in the middle of the Tulkarm market, located on the sides of the sidewalks, terrorizing their owners and trying to crush them.

In Tulkarm camp, the occupation forces continued to deploy large numbers of infantry soldiers in all its neighborhoods and alleys, raid homes and expel their residents, seize tall buildings and turn them into sniper locations and fire at citizens, which led to the injury of a 40-year-old man by a sniper bullet from the occupation soldiers stationed inside one of these buildings.

The occupation continues the large-scale evacuation of civilians from their homes in the camp.

Tulkarm camp is living in the midst of this unprecedented ongoing escalation, amid difficult humanitarian conditions, after the occupation bulldozers completely and partially destroyed homes and shops, and blew up a number of them and burned others, coinciding with the complete destruction of the infrastructure, which led to the interruption of water, electricity, communications and the Internet.

It has become difficult for specialized crews from the municipality and others to reach them to repair them due to the occupation forces preventing them from entering the camp.

The situation of the civilians who are still in their homes, including the elderly, the sick, women and children, has also worsened due to the severe shortage of food, medical supplies, drinking water and baby milk.

Yesterday evening, the Red Crescent crews were able to rescue an elderly man from Tulkarm camp after he had been inside his home for seven days without water or food, due to the ongoing Israeli aggression, and get him out of the camp.

Israeli occupation forces raided and closed on Sunday evening the headquarters of the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) near Thabit Thabit Government Hospital in central Tulkarem, in the northern occupied West Bank, according to PRCS sources.

Earlier, the occupation forces attacked the disaster risk management crew of the society while it was trying to evacuate two elderly women, one of whom has a motor disability, from inside Tulkarm camp, on a coordinated humanitarian mission, and detained two of its crews while they were doing humanitarian work inside the Al-Muqata'a neighborhood in the camp.
