Prime Minister Mustafa held a meeting with the Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza, Sigrid Kaag; the Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Muhannad Hadi; the European Union Representative to West Bank and Gaza Strip, UNRWA, Ambassador Alexandre Stutzmann; and the World Bank's Country Director for the West Bank and Gaza, Stefan Emblad; to discuss relief, humanitarian and reconstruction efforts in Gaza.
During the meeting attended by Palestine’s International Cooperation and Planning Minister, Wael Zakout, and Minister of Social Development Samah Hamad, Premier Mustafa reaffirmed the importance of the international community and partners’ support to the efforts exerted by the government along with government staff working in the field in the Strip.
He also stressed the importance of coordination between the government and international partners through the recently-established Government Operations Room for Emergency Interventions in Gaza as a means to reinforce the efforts aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Gaza population, restore basic services, stimulate economic recovery and take an inventory of the damage as a prelude to Gaza reconstruction.
He commended the efforts to implement the Relief, Early Recovery, and Emergency Response Plan for Gaza.
Concurrently, discussions are underway for convening not only an international donor conference for the reconstruction of Gaza in coordination with donor countries and relevant UN institutions but also an investment conference to support the recovery of the Palestinian private sector and stimulate production to go beyond the reliance on relief.
