RAMALLAH, January 29, 2025 (WAFA) - The official spokesman for the Palestinian presidency Nabil Abu Rudeineh said that the decision of the Israeli occupation authorities to stop the work of "UNRWA" is rejected and condemned, and constitutes a provocation to Palestinian people, and is contrary to the United Nations resolutions under which the agency was established.
He added in a press statement today that the Israeli decision, which defies international legitimacy, will contribute to raising escalation and tension in the region due to its impact on the services provided by the agency to about 6 million Palestinian refugees inside the camps, holding the Israeli government fully responsible for the serious repercussions of this decision.
Abu Rudeineh pointed out that the United Nations must carry out its responsibilities according to international law, and oblige the occupying state to reverse this rejected decision, and ensure the continuation of "UNRWA" in providing its services to Palestinian refugees, until their issue is resolved in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.
He stressed that the ongoing Israeli attempts to target "UNRWA" aim to liquidate the refugee issue and eliminate the right of return, stressing that the refugee issue is a red line for our people and leadership, and one of the goals of any future political settlement.
