Child killed, others injured in Israeli shelling of animal-drawn cart in central Gaza

GAZA, January 27, 2025 (WAFA) – A child was killed and several other civilians were injured on Monday night after Israeli forces shelled a cart drawn by an animal west of the Al-Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.

Al-Awda Hospital in Gaza reported that the body of five-year-old Nadia Mohammed Al-Amoudi, along with three other injured civilians, all from the Al-Jisr area west of the camp, were brought to the facility, after Israeli shelling targeted displaced families returning to northern Gaza.

Thousands of displaced residents began returning to Gaza City and the northern Strip today via the coastal Al-Rasheed Street in central Gaza, after being forcibly displaced by the Israeli military during the ongoing genocidal offensive.

Between October 7, 2023, and January 19, 2025, Israeli forces launched a large-scale military aggression on the Gaza Strip, which resulted in over 158,000 casualties, the majority of whom are women and children. In addition, more than 14,000 civilians remain missing.

The Israeli aggression has led to the displacement of more than 85% of Gaza's population after their homes were destroyed, amounting to over 1.93 million individuals out of a total of 2.2 million.

Furthermore, approximately 100,000 residents have fled the Gaza Strip since the onset of the offensive.
