RAMALLAH, January 23, 2025 (WAFA) — The Palestinian government, under the directives of Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa and the supervision of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, has officially launched a comprehensive damage assessment program in Gaza.

This initiative, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Arab and International Organization for Reconstruction in Palestine, marks a significant step in the early recovery efforts for the region.

The program will see the deployment of 700 engineers, who will be tasked with conducting thorough damage assessments across Gaza. Their work is expected to provide a clear and accurate documentation of the destruction, which will form the foundation for upcoming government interventions in the recovery and reconstruction phases. The efforts are aimed at revitalizing the area and laying the groundwork for long-term rebuilding projects.

In addition to the damage assessment, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing is working closely with the Arab and Islamic Funds Authority to carry out key activities such as rubble removal and the provision of temporary shelters. These efforts will ensure that immediate needs are met, allowing for a smoother transition to reconstruction once the damage is fully assessed.

This program is part of a broader strategy that includes the government's comprehensive recovery plan, which addresses multiple sectors affected by the recent crisis in Gaza. The goal is to not only restore the physical infrastructure but also to support the people of Gaza in their recovery, ensuring a brighter and more sustainable future.
