RAMALLAH, January 22, 2025 (WAFA) – Over 90% of the production capacity of the Gaza Seawater Desalination Plant is damaged, according to the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA).
PWA said in a press release that the Gaza Sea Water Desalination Plant (GSWDP), which produces 10,000 cubic meters of water daily, sustained significant damage of over 90 percent as a result of the Israeli genocidal aggression on Gaza.
It added that the Israeli occupation forces used the GSWDP as a military base in the course of the aggression, destroying most of the plant’s main components.
Having made an inventory of the damages due to Israeli bombardment and destruction in cooperation with the Coastal Municipalities Water Utilities (CMWU), the PWA that the rehabilitation of the GSWDP would require approx. $5 million and take a whole year to carry out the necessary repairs.
