BRUSSELS, January 16, 2025 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa Thursday commended the European Parliament’s role in supporting the Palestinian people’s rights.

Prime Minister Mustafa made his remarks during a meeting with the European Parliament President Roberta Metsola at the EP’s headquarters in Brussels.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Mustafa expressed appreciation for the EP’s principled positions, including the position in support of the two-state solution, and discussed with EP President Metsola bilateral relations, the recent developments in Palestine, and the efforts aimed at fostering just and lasting peace in the region.

Metsola affirmed the EU’s firm commitment to the two-state solution as the only path towards just and lasting peace and the need to bring an end to the Israeli occupation and guarantee the Palestinian people’s rights to self-determination and the right to establish an independent State within the borders of 4 June 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.

She stressed the importance of the EU's financial support to the Palestinian government, noting that this support contributes to guaranteeing the ongoing provision of vital services and the promotion of stability.

The meeting concluded by stressing the importance of stepping up international efforts to bring about regional peace and stability as well as of the EU-Palestine partnership in addressing shared challenges while reiterating commitment to furthering dialogue and coordination.
