JERUSALEM, January 6, 2025 (WAFA) - The Israeli occupation authorities seized on Monday around 262 dunums of land northeast of Jerusalem for the benefit of expanding a colonial road.
According to a statement from the Jerusalem Governorate, the Israeli authorities announced the "expropriation" of more than 262 dunums of land in Jaba’, Al-Ram, Kafr Aqab, and Mikhmas in occupied Jerusalem, for the benefit of expanding the colonial Road 45, which extends from Mikhmas to the new tunnel under Qalandiya Airport, with implementation set to occur within 60 days.
The Israeli human rights organization "Ir Amim" revealed that the Israeli government is seeking to annex land from the village of Jaba’, northeast of Jerusalem, to the jurisdiction of the "Geva Binyamin" colony. This follows the colonists’ seizure of the land and the forced displacement of Palestinian residents.
The organization emphasized that this move threatens the rights of Palestinian landowners, restricts their access to their land and exposes the Palestinian land to the risk of being converted into illegal colonial construction areas or for public use by the colonies.
