RAMALLAH, January 6, 2025 (WAFA) – The Ministry of Health confirmed today that there are no indications of the presence of dangerous viruses in Palestine, based on its monitoring programs for seasonal influenza and other respiratory viruses.
In a statement issued on Monday, the ministry reported a natural increase in seasonal flu activity over the past month in Palestine. The ministry’s teams are actively monitoring the situation to track the epidemiological status of respiratory viruses and strengthen preventive measures to combat their spread.
Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health and Family Health Affairs, Kamal Al-Shakhra, emphasized that preventive medicine departments across the health directorates are collecting samples and testing them in ministry laboratories according to approved protocols.
He dismissed rumors about the spread of the HMPV virus, noting that this virus has been periodically identified since 2001 and that the ministry's laboratories are fully equipped to conduct the necessary tests.
Al-Shakhra also stressed that the Ministry of Health is the sole and official source for all public health-related news and urged citizens to rely on official statements to avoid misinformation.
