RAMALLAH, December 24, 2024 (WAFA) - The Ministry of Social Development warned organizations involved in aid distribution in the Gaza Strip, that have not addressed its observations regarding their conduct and practices, that legal measures may be taken against them in coordination with the Palestinian Ministry of Interior.
The ministry emphasized that violations by some organizations in managing and distributing aid allocated to Gaza exacerbate the suffering of residents in the area and contradict the humanitarian principles underlying relief work.
It noted that observed violations have led to a significant reduction in the amount of aid delivered, as well as exploitation by certain organizations using their influence to obtain special permits to bring aid through the occupation.
The ministry clarified that these breaches not only reflect poor management by certain entities but also highlight the challenges posed by occupation-related interference, which hinders the delivery of humanitarian assistance to those in need.
It called on the international community to assume its responsibilities regarding such interference and work towards establishing mechanisms that ensure fair and transparent delivery of aid to affected populations.
The ministry stressed that, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, it continues to monitor all complaints received from citizens and will pursue any associations or organizations found violating regulations and laws.
It also urged citizens to report any misconduct related to aid distribution through the hotline (189).
In the same context, the Ministry of Social Development reaffirmed its ongoing efforts to ensure transparency and integrity in the distribution of humanitarian aid, expressing its strong condemnation of violations by some local organizations in this regard.
The ministry reiterated its commitment to continue monitoring and regulating the entry and distribution of aid to protect the rights of Gaza residents and ensure the delivery of humanitarian assistance amid the dire conditions in the area.
