Japan extends $100M aid package to Palestine amid ongoing humanitarian, security and economic crisis

RAMALLAH, December 24, 2024 (WAFA) - The Government of Japan has announced a new aid package to Palestine worth 13.5 billion Yen (approximately $100 million), which will be distributed through international organizations, Japanese NGOs and JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency).

This decision responds to the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza and the worsening security and economic conditions in the West Bank.

According to a press release published by the Representative Office of Japan to Palestine, the package includes various projects such as financial support to the PA, rubble removal and mine action, health care and hygiene, shelter, education, mental health and psychosocial support, industry and food.

With this new aid package, Japan’s total assistance to Palestine since October 2023 will be approximately $230 million. Japan continues to be committed to supporting the Palestinian people in their difficult situation, the release concluded.
