Israel prevents entry of medical delegations and supplies to Gaza hospital

GAZA, December 19, 2024 (WAFA) – Medical sources said that the Israeli occupation is currently preventing the entry of any medical delegations or supplies to the Kamal Adwan Hospital in the town of Beit Lahia, north of the Gaza Strip.

The sources indicated that the hospital is suffering from a shortage of water, oxygen and electricity, and the occupation continues to drop bombs on the hospital, as explosions can be heard in its courtyards and at the gates.

Since last night, several explosions have occurred and nearby buildings have been destroyed, with shrapnel flying towards the hospital.

The sources confirmed that the hospital is in dire need of repairs related to water and oxygen supplies, but Israel is still preventing the entry of any necessary resources to support the health system.

They indicated that the hospital lacks the necessary specialties to treat most of the injuries, which have reached 85, including 10 cases that need urgent surgical interventions.

They added that the intensive care unit in the hospital, which was severely damaged by a fire that broke out two days ago due to direct shelling, has undergone some repairs, however, there is still a problem with the electrical network, and additional supplies are needed to restore the department, as it is the only one that provides intensive care services for children and adults in northern Gaza.

The medical sources appealed to the international community to open a humanitarian corridor and allow the entry of medical supplies, equipment and first aid, and to provide international protection for the health system in northern Gaza.
