Foreign Ministry calls for urgent International pressure to halt genocide, displacement and annexation measures in West Bank

RAMALLAH, December 15, 2024 (WAFA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates expressed deep concern over the recent Israeli escalation of unilateral and unlawful actions in the occupied West Bank, aimed at intensifying and expanding ethnic cleansing and gradual annexation.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the ministry explained that annexation measures are being implemented through the seizure of tens of thousands of dunums of land, the installation of Israeli surveillance and communication towers and provocative calls from Israel's far-right urging the deployment and establishment of additional checkpoints at major road junctions.

The ministry emphasized that these actions paralyze the movement of Palestinian citizens, fragment the occupied West Bank and empower colonial gangs to commit further attacks against Palestinian citizens.

The ministry maintained that these actions are taking place in light of Israel's ongoing genocide and displacement, coupled with official Israeli boasting over annexing the West Bank to destroy any prospects for a Palestinian state and eliminate the Palestinian cause.

The statement further noted that Israel is taking advantage of regional developments to isolate the Palestinian cause further, as well as to mistreat the Palestinian people and deny them their legitimate national rights.

The ministry stressed that the international community's failure to protect the Palestinian people, its inability to enforce its resolutions and its reliance on vague condemnations, demands directed at the occupying state and double standards have all provided cover for the Israeli government to intensify its crimes of genocide, displacement, colonialism and annexation.

It called on the international community to implement its resolutions, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 2735 and the UN General Assembly decision that adopted the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice.

The ministry reiterated that resolving the Palestinian issue and ending the occupation is the only way to achieve security, stability and prosperity for the region and the world.
