RAMALLAH, December 11, 2024 (WAFA) – The Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ministry Wednesday evening welcomed Ireland’s announcement that it would intervene in South Africa’s International Court of Justice case against Israel over the genocide in the Gaza Strip.
The Ministry said in a press statement that Ireland’s decision signals the country’s unwavering commitment to justice and the rule of international law and affirms its profound solidarity and historic bond of friendship with Palestine.
It called on all State Parties to the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide to join South Africa’s case against Israel at the ICJ and effectively partake in the procedures before the court, particularly that putting an end to the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people and combating Israel’s impunity are responsibilities that should be jointly taken for the interest of humanity and law.
