Prime Minister discusses support for realizing Palestinian state with EU’s new High Representative

RAMALLAH, December 5, 2024 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa emphasized the importance of advancing practical steps to implement the two-state solution and bolstering the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution as a mechanism for achieving comprehensive and sustainable peace.

This came during a phone call on Thursday with the new EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.

The Prime Minister underscored the necessity of unified international efforts to realize the establishment of the Palestinian state and called on the international community to implement United Nations resolutions as a foundation for a just and lasting solution.

He also highlighted the urgent need to end the Israeli aggression and ensure the unimpeded entry of humanitarian aid while creating favorable conditions for reconstruction in Gaza once the aggression is brought to an end.

He stressed the importance of coordinating with the international community to secure the necessary resources for these efforts.

Mustafa thanked the European Union for its financial support in 2024 and emphasized the need to expedite the approval of a comprehensive package by the European Council and Parliament to address the severe financial crisis caused by Israeli actions and deductions from Palestinian clearance revenues.

He further reiterated the Government’s commitment to implementing the institutional reform agenda, which forms the core of President Mahmoud Abbas's mandate and the Government’s work program.

The Prime Minister congratulated Kallas on her new role, commending her impactful tenure as Estonia’s Prime Minister.

He remarked that she assumes her position at a time of increasing complexity in the Middle East, particularly in Palestine, and stressed the critical role of the European Union in fostering stability and peace in the region.
