GAZA, November 16, 2024 (WAFA) – A deadly Israeli airstrike on a school sheltering displaced families in the al-Shati refugee camp west of Gaza City has resulted in multiple casualties, including children and women, according to local sources.
Witnesses reported that Israeli warplanes targeted the UNRWA-run Abu Assi School, which has been providing shelter for displaced families. The attack claimed the lives of at least 10 civilians, including children and women, while around 20 others were injured and rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Rescue teams are still searching for additional survivors and victims in the rubble.
The school had previously been struck multiple times during the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza.
The ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since October 2023 has so far resulted in at least 43,799 documented Palestinian fatalities, with over 103,601 others injured.
Thousands of victims are feared trapped under rubble, inaccessible to emergency and civil defense teams due to Israeli attacks.
Israel's genocidal attacks continue unabated despite calls from the UN Security Council for an immediate ceasefire and directives from the International Court of Justice urging measures to prevent genocide and alleviate the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
