GAZA, November 15, 2024 (WAFA) - At least seven civilians were killed and others were injured on Friday in an Israeli bombing targeting a tent for displaced people in the al-Mawasi area west of the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.
WAFA correspondent reported that seven civilians were killed and several others were injured in an Israeli shelling that targeted a tent sheltering displaced people near the Osman Bin Affan Mosque south of al-Mawasi area. The bodies of two civilians and several wounded were also transferred to the Red Cross Field Hospital and the Nasser Medical Complex in the city.
The al-Mawasi is a vast camp on sandy soil devoid of the most basic living conditions, where approximately 1.7 million persons were forcibly displaced due to intense bombardment and gunfire by the Israeli occupation. Most of the displaced arrived there during the occupation’s ground invasion of the city of Rafah in the southern Strip last May when the occupation claimed it a "safe zone" while simultaneously committing numerous massacres targeting the tents that housed the displaced.
Earlier, one civilian was killed and another was injured in the occupation's targeting of a group of civilians near the headquarters of the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) in the Khirbat al-Adas area north of Rafah in the southern Strip.
A female aged 18 was also killed in the Israeli bombing of a house belonging to the Abu al-Hussein family northeast of Rafah.
Two other civilians were wounded after the Israeli occupation targeted a gathering of civilians in Gaza City's Tuffah neighborhood.
The occupation warplanes also launched an air raid on the town of Jabalia in the north of the Strip.
The occupation’s onslaught on the Gaza Strip by land, sea, and air since October 7, 2023, has so far resulted in the killing of 43,764 civilians, most of whom are women and children, and the injury of 103,490 others.
Thousands of victims remain missing; either buried under the rubble or scattered on the roads, as rescue teams face tremendous difficulties in reaching them due to the continued Israeli attacks and the massive amount of debris.
