Israeli forces erect checkpoints east of Qalqilya

QALQILYA, November 7, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces Thursday evening erected two checkpoints to the east of the occupied West Bank city of Qalqilya, according to local sources.

They said that the occupation soldiers set up two checkpoints, one at the entrance of the Kafr Laqif village and the other at the entrance of the An-Nabi Ilyas village, stopping Palestinian-registered vehicles, inspecting passengers’ identity cards and forcing them to endure lengthy delays.

Israel severely restricts Palestinians’ freedom of movement through a complex combination of over 100 fixed checkpoints, flying checkpoints, settler-only roads and various other physical obstructions.

Closures besides other measures, taken under the guise of security, are intended to entrench Israel’s 57-year-old military occupation of the West Bank and its settler colonial project which it enforces with routine and frequently deadly violence against Palestinians.
