Prime Minister extends condolences to family of renowned activist beaten to death by Israeli forces

RAMALLAH, October 8, 2024 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa Tuesday evening extended condolences to the family of a renowned 66-year-old Palestinian activist who was beaten to death by Israeli occupation forces on Monday.

Prime Minister Mustafa offered his sincere condolences to Ziad Abu Helaiel's family and relayed President Mahmoud Abbas's condolences to them.

He affirmed that Abu Helaiel’s killing would not undermine the determination of the Palestinian people to attain their freedom and independence and realize the establishment of their independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Abu Helaiel was a popular tribal figure in the West Bank, famous for peacefully confronting Israeli soldiers during demonstrations and standing between them and protesters.

Occupation forces invaded his home in Dura in the early hours of Monday morning and beat the well-known elder severely until he lost consciousness. He was pronounced dead in Dura Hospital.
