RAMALLAH, October 6, 2024 (WAFA) — The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has commended French President Emmanuel Macron's recent statements emphasizing the need to halt arms exports to Israel amid its ongoing genocide in Gaza. It highlighted the importance of focusing on political solutions to end the ongoing conflict.
In a statement released on Sunday, the ministry noted that President Macron's comments align with international law and UN resolutions, supporting the two-state solution and principles of human rights.
It called on countries that continue to support Israel in its aggression to respect and implement international law, pressuring the Israeli authorities to end the genocidal war against the Palestinian people in Gaza, the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, and Lebanon.
The ministry further urged those providing military equipment to Israel to take responsibility for enabling its crimes and violations against the Palestinian population.
It called on the states party to the Arms Trade Treaty to act decisively to prevent Israel from using military weapons to commit serious violations of international humanitarian law and human rights against Palestinian civilians.
The statement underscored the commitment of these countries to refrain from authorizing any transfers of conventional arms if they are aware that such arms might be used to commit genocide, crimes against humanity, or serious violations of the Geneva Conventions.
