RAMALLAH, Tuesday, August 13, 2024 (WAFA) - The Israeli occupation forces today briefly held Jibril Rajoub, President of the Palestinian Football Association (PFA), upon his return through the Karama/King Hussein Bridge crossing with Jordan from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and handed him a summon to appear before their intelligence in the Ofer camp next Thursday.
During a telephone call with WAFA, Rajoub said that the occupation forces briefly detained him as he was returning home through the Karama Crossing after participating in the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games. Forces confiscated his passport and thoroughly searched him, before handing him a summon to appear before their intelligence.
He stressed that all Palestinians are being targeted by the Israeli occupation, stating: “This is something expected from an occupying power that wipes out our people and seeks to displace them, without differentiating between a woman, a child, or an elderly.”
The President of the Palestinian Football Association and secretary general of Fatah's Central Committee stressed that he would not comply with the occupation’s summon to appear before its intelligence, stating: "This is an occupation authority and I will not comply with its summon.”
Rajoub has previously been threatened by ministers in the occupation government that he would be arrested for his efforts to expel the occupation state from international sports federations.
