Pro-Palestine protest held in front of US embassy in Budapest

BUDAPEST, Saturday, August 10, 2024 (WAFA) – For the first time since October 2023, a protest was held in front of the US embassy for Palestine in Budapest in light of the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples.

The choice of this day was not only to highlight the fact that Palestinians are indigenous to their occupied lands, but also a window to fight for Palestinian justice.

The protest began with a beloved Arabic song, Mawtini, played by a Hungarian young man on the Darbuka. Meanwhile, watermelons, viewed as a symbol for Palestine, were handed out to the protesters.

This was followed by a minute of silence for the tens of thousands of lost innocent lives.  The protestors chanted for liberation and delivered a mix of English and Hungarian speeches as well as music and dance performances in-between.
