RAMALLAH, Saturday, August 3, 2024 (WAFA) – A Palestinian today sustained serious injuries from Israeli army gunfire in the Abwein town, northwest of the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, according to local sources.
They said that the occupation forces barged their way into the town, and deployed at the downtown area, triggering confrontations.
The heavily armed soldiers broke into two houses, thoroughly searched them and interrogated the occupants.
They opened fire towards local youths protesting the raid, hitting a 25-year-old youth with a live round in the abdomen.
The casualty was rushed to a hospital in Salfit for urgent treatment.
The occupation forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
