Seven released detainees in Gaza reveal torture, inhuman conditions by Israeli forces

GAZA, Thursday, July 25, 2024 (WAFA) – The Israeli occupation authorities today released seven detainees, including two women from the Gaza Strip.

Local sources said that the released detainees were detained during the ongoing occupation aggression since October 7th.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said that it provided first aid to the detainees released in front of the Kissufim military checkpoint, east of Deir al-Balah, and transferred them to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.

Two released detainees revealed the extent of torture, abuse and violations they were subjected to during their detention.

Muhammad Al-Louh, one of the detainees, said that he spent 30 days in the occupation prisons, during which he was subjected to severe torture, continuous severe beatings, and electric shocks.

He added that the detainees are shackled, handcuffed and blindfolded around the clock, and are prevented from raising their heads, and are crammed into narrow rooms that lack the basic necessities of life.

Muhammad Abu Shaar also confirmed that he was subjected to torture with electric shock several times during his detention, in addition to beatings and sleep deprivation,

Abu Shaar pointed out that the food provided was poor in quantity and quality.

During its ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip since October 7, the occupation forces detained hundreds of civilians during their ground invasion of the north, center and south of the Strip, and released a number of them after detaining them for months, weeks or several days.

During its ground invasion of Gaza, the occupation forces published several times horrific pictures and scenes of the detention conditions  of hundreds of people naked and in conditions degrading to human dignity.

About 10 days ago, the Commission’s lawyer, Khaled Mahajna, conveyed horrific testimonies about detainees from the Gaza Strip, during his visit to the Ofer detention center.

Mahajneh reported that some of the detainees in Ofer were subjected to sexual assaults after being stripped of their clothes and beaten in sensitive places.
