Israeli colonists assault Palestinian community south of Hebron

HEBRON, Saturday, June 29, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists today assaulted the Palestinian community of Umm al-Kheir in Masafer Yatta in the southern occupied West Bank district of Hebron, according to local sources.

They said that colonists, under the occupation forces’ protection, attacked the community, spewing pepper spray in their faces and causing them burns and suffocation.

Colonists also attacked a house in the wilderness of Bani Naim, muscling inside, smashing internal doors and aiming their rifles towards children.

The assailants came from the nearby colony of Carmel.

Meanwhile, the occupation forces seized two diggers while being used in land reclamation in al-Bweib locality, northeast of Yatta.

Colonist violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli occupation authorities.

Colonist violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.

Over 700,000 Israeli colonists are living in colonies across occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank in violation of international law.
