Israel extends detention of WAFA journalist for the third time

RAMALLAH, Monday, June 24, 2024 (WAFA) – The Israeli occupation military court in Salem extended on Monday, and for the third time, the detention of Rasha Hirzallah, a journalist working for the Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) until August 11th.

The Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS) said that a new session was held Monday for Harzallah in the Israeli court in Salem, during which her detention was extended until August 11, 2024.

Raed Mahameed, the Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission's lawyer, said that the court decided to extend the extension until August 11 under the pretext of completing “judicial procedures.”

It is noteworthy that a court session was held for Hirzallah on June 10, which in turn decided to extend her detention for two weeks.

Earlier in June, Israeli intelligence summoned Hirzallah for investigation at a detention center in the illegal Ariel colony.

She went there with a lawyer, and upon their arrival, she was informed that she would be detained for 72 hours.
