BERLIN, Sunday, June 23, 2024 (WAFA) - German police forcefully dispersed dozens of nonviolent demonstrators on Saturday during a pro-Palestinian march in the capital, Berlin.
The march, which began at the Eberswalder tram station under the slogan "Stop the Genocide in Gaza," drew approximately 3,000 participants.
The tensions escalated when police detained several protesters, leading to confrontations between demonstrators and the police. Ambulances were called to assist some protesters who fainted during the clashes.
Following the initial confrontations, the protesters marched to the city center, chanting slogans such as "Israel kills children" and "Israel is a terrorist state."
In a related incident, around 60 activists staged a sit-in protest at the Alexa shopping center in Berlin. The demonstrators sat inside the mall, holding signs and banners, and chanted slogans against Israel's atrocities in Gaza.
The German police issued a statement announcing the detention of 11 protesters.
