JENIN, Thursday, June 13, 2024 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation forces have continued their onslaught on the city of Jenin and its refugee camp, north of the occupied West Bank, for over 12 hours, conducting extensive bulldozing and destruction of streets and public and private properties.
Dr. Wissam Bakr, the director of Jenin Hospital, reported to WAFA that Israeli forces hindered the work of medical and administrative teams at the hospital by imposing a blockade on the roads leading to the hospital.
This siege has caused significant suffering for dialysis patients who have been prevented from reaching the hospital, as the occupation forces blocked the movement of ambulance vehicles and civilians into and out of the hospital.
Nidal Obeidi, the mayor of Jenin, stated that the occupation has turned the city into a disaster area. He described extensive damage to all infrastructure facilities, including homes, vehicles, and market stalls.
The deliberate destruction of electricity networks has exacerbated the situation, Obeidi added, making the level of infrastructure damage far beyond the municipality's capacity to repair.
Meantime, the Israeli forces continue to maintain a military blockade on the Jenin refugee camp, destroying infrastructure including water and sewage networks and electricity generators across all neighborhoods. Streets in various areas of the camp have been bulldozed, and parts of homes, walls, and vehicles have been damaged.
In Jenin city, the destruction of infrastructure by the Israeli troops extends to streets, vegetable stalls, clothing stalls prepared for the upcoming Eid al-Adha celebrations, and several vehicles. Several neighborhoods also remain without electricity due to the ongoing power outages resulting from the Israeli attack.
