Palestine participates in London Tech Week

LONDON, Wednesday, June 12, 2024 (WAFA) – Palestine has participated in the UK's largest and most influential tech event, London Tech Week at the Olympia in London.

The Palestinian Information Technology Association of Companies (PITA) traveled to London to attend the UK Tech Week, held at the Olympia London, under the auspices of the UK Palestinian Tech Hub, an exciting new initiative of the British Consulate-General (BCG) in Jerusalem implemented as part of the UK-funded Trade Facilitation and Customs Support (Tasdeer) programme.

PITA said in a press statement that the event facilitated networking with global tech leaders, enhancing collaboration between Palestinian and British tech sectors, exposing Palestinian delegates to the UK entrepreneurial ecosystem while also establishing initial connections to build and grow their professional network in the UK.

The UK Tech Week focused in its 2024 edition on vital themes, including artificial intelligence (AI), data security, technological revolution, green innovation and entrepreneurship.

PITA added that Palestine’s participated in the event as part of the ongoing quest to support Palestinian innovation and provide Palestinian companies with the opportunities to grow and expand at the international level, particularly given the current harsh conditions the Palestinian technological sector has been going through.

The event contributed to opening new horizons for Palestinian companies, which showcased their products and skills at the event.

The Palestinian delegation, which represented 12 companies, had the opportunity to contact experts, investors, directors of business accelerators, members of the Palestinian community in the UK and Palestinian ambassador to the UK Husam Zomlot.

London Tech Week is the global tech ecosystem – where visionaries and entrepreneurs, investors and enterprise tech leaders come together in the right balance to accelerate the infinite cycle of tech innovation.

The objective of the UK Palestinian Tech Hub is to create and facilitate relevant connections and partnerships between the British and Palestinian technology ecosystems, with the goal of promoting cohesion and sustainability in the Palestinian tech sector. The hub will serve as a gateway to the UK, while also bringing years of accumulated knowledge and expertise to Palestinian companies.

The UK Palestinian Tech Hub supports entrepreneurs and tech leaders to acquire the skills, resources and connections needed to accelerate their company’s journey through a year-round calendar of activities and events.
