AMMAN, Tuesday, June 11, 2024 (WAFA) - With the participation of President Mahmoud Abbas, the main session of the ‘Gaza Emergency Humanitarian Response Conference’ kicked off in Jordan.
The conference is being held at the invitation of Jordanian King Abdullah II, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, with the participation of leaders of states and governments and heads of international humanitarian and relief organizations.
The conference aims to identify ways to enhance the international community's response to the humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip, increase the amount of aid delivered and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of aid distribution, as well as define effective mechanisms and steps for response and the necessary operational and logistical needs.
The relief and early recovery response plan, put together by the Palestinian government, will be distributed during the conference. The plan was previously adopted by the Economic and Social Council of the Arab League.
