Israeli colonists pelt stones at Palestinian citizens' vehicles near al-Bireh northern entrance

RAMALLAH, Tuesday, June 4, 2024 (WAFA) - Israeli colonists today pelted stones at Palestinian vehicles passing near the northern entrance to al-Bireh city in the central West Bank, according to local sources.

Sources said that dozens of colonial settlers gathered near the nearby illegal colony of Beit El and attacked Palestinian citizens' vehicles with stones, causing damage to several cars.

Extremist colonists yesterday called on their followers to demonstrate at the Beit El (DCO) checkpoint, near the northern entrance of al-Bireh city, to demand the closure of the checkpoint to prohibit the movement of Palestinians.

The said checkpoint has been closed since the onset of the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people on October 7, 2023, and was partially reopened yesterday.

According to OCHA, dozens of new closures have been erected throughout the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since the start of the Israeli aggression in October 2023. These closures, which include checkpoints, earth mounds, roadblocks and road gates, have further disrupted Palestinians’ access to basic services, workplaces, and markets, as well as movement by aid workers to carry out assessments or deliver assistance.
