Marking 76th Nakba anniversary, Tunisia reaffirms support for Palestinian people’s right to self-determination

TUNISIA, Wednesday, May 15, 2024 (WAFA) - Tunisia said today that the 76TH anniversary of the Nakba, which falls on May 15, is an occasion that recalls the steadfastness of the proud Palestinian people and their struggles over many decades in the face of the Israeli occupation to realize their legitimate aspirations to live in freedom and dignity in an independent and sovereign state.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad expressed its concern about what Palestinian civilians in the occupied Palestinian territories are being exposed to in terms of crimes against humanity, a systematic genocidal war and attempts to harass and displace them by the brutal occupation forces in the Gaza Strip and by colonial gangs in the West Bank.

Tunisia affirmed that it pays homage to the heroic steadfastness of the Palestinian people who succeeded alone in confronting the arrogance and tyranny of the occupier and the brutality of its military arsenal, amidst the suspicious and shameful silence of the international community.

Tunisia reiterated its unconditional support for the Palestinian people in defending their inalienable rights, affirming its firm support for the Palestinians' right to self-determination and struggle to fully restore their legitimate historical rights and establish their state on the entire land of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital.
