Rights advocates urge Biden to immediately suspend new arms exports to Israel

GAZA, Sunday, March 24, 2024 (WAFA) – Activists and human rights advocates have launched a digital campaign urging U.S. President Joe Biden and members of Congress to follow Canada's lead in immediately suspending all new arms exports to Israel.

In their messages, the activists called on President Biden to halt arming the Israeli apartheid regime and emphasized the need for U.S. policies to align with human rights, international law, and the Palestinians' right to self-determination.

They argued that decades of U.S. administrations' policies favoring Israel have emboldened the occupation, allowing it to escape accountability and making a just and lasting peace more elusive than ever.

The activists asserted that the United States must urgently reassess its practices, particularly its provision of billions of dollars in weapons to Israel without conditions.

They highlighted the importance of prioritizing human rights and justice in U.S. foreign policy decisions and ending the cycle of oppression in the region.
