Palestinian teen killed by Israeli gunfire in Nablus

NABLUS, Friday, February 9, 2024 (WAFA) – The Ministry of Health announced this evening the tragic murder of 17-year-old Muath Ashraf Faleh Bani Shamsa in the town of Beita, south of Nablus, after being injured by Israeli army gunfire in the town.

According to the ministry, Bani Shamsa succumbed to his injuries, inflicted by a gunshot wound to the chest during confrontations that erupted in the town of Beita following an incursion by the Israeli occupation forces.

WAFA correspondent said confrontations erupted between local Palestinians and Israeli occupation forces in the town. He added that the use of lethal force by the Israeli forces resulted in multiple injuries, with two youths sustaining gunshot wounds, including Bani Shamsa, who died of his critical injury.

Another individual was injured due to an assault by the Israeli military, and dozens suffered from tear gas inhalation.  

The Palestinian Red Crescent said its teams provided medical assistance to the injured. Among the three individuals treated, it said, two had sustained gunshot wounds, and efforts are underway to resuscitate one of the victims. The third person was reported to be injured as a result of an assault by Israeli occupation forces.
