RAMALLAH, Saturday, January 20, 2024 (WAFA) – Numerous cities and capitals around the world witnessed massive protests today denouncing the ongoing Israeli war of genocide on the Gaza Strip.
Thousands participated in demonstrations held in the Spanish capital, Madrid, the Austrian capital, Vienna, Italian cities including Milan, the British city of Birmingham, the capital Berlin and the city of Saarbrücken in Germany, as well as the French capital, Paris, in support of the Palestinian people.
The protests aimed to demand an immediate ceasefire and the urgent delivery of desperately needed humanitarian aid to besieged Gaza, amid reports of an unfolding famine in many areas of the enclave as a result of the Israeli regime's blocking the entry of aid into the region.
In Madrid, the Spanish government confirmed that around 25,000 protesters marched between the Atocha station and the Plaza de Cibeles square in the city center.
A prominent banner, adorned with the colors of the Palestinian flag, called on the Spanish government to end arms trade and relations with Israel. Some protesters held signs in English that read "Stop the genocide."
Demonstrations also took place in other major Spanish cities, including Barcelona, Valencia, and Seville, organized by the Shabaka solidarity network under the slogan "Let's stop the genocide in Palestine."
Participants in the protests waved Palestinian flags and held banners condemning the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people.
They also called for an end to double standards and emphasized the need to hold Israel accountable for its massacres, especially those targeting children. The protesters strongly denounced the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip.
