RAMALLAH, Monday, October 23, 2023 (WAFA) -  The Presidency condemned today the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, which led to the killing of more than 4,700 people and the injury of about 15,000 others, and the continuation of incursions and killings in the occupied West Bank, which resulted in the killing of 95 people since October 7, the most recent of which was the killing at dawn today of two youths in Jalazone refugee camp, as well as the continuation of the arrest policy that affected hundreds of people in the West Bank.

Nabil Abu Rudeineh, the official spokesman for the presidency, said that President Mahmoud Abbas stressed at the recent Cairo summit the necessity of stopping the aggression immediately while totally rejecting any plans to displace the Palestinian people from their homes in Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem.

“The main reason for what is happening is the absence of a political horizon and failure to implement the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Palestinian Arab legitimacy, which was the reason for the big explosion we see today,” he said in a statement.

“We have repeatedly warned of the continuation of the Israeli provocations in Jerusalem, the colonists’ incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the absence of the American role in pressuring Israel to bind it to the agreements, international legitimacy, and international law,” said Abu Rudeineh, stressing the necessity of finding a political horizon “to prevent an explosion in the entire region.”
