Israel blows up Palestinian house in a village south of Nablus

NABLUS, Friday, October 20, 2023 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces last night demolished a house and injured a Palestinian youth with live ammunition during a raid into the village of Urif, to the south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, according to local sources.

The sources reported that over 25 Israeli military vehicles stormed the village and surrounded the home of the late Palestinian youth Khalid Sabah, who was killed by the forces in June this year. The family was forced to evacuate their house, which was subsequently demolished by the forces using explosive materials.

In the aftermath of the demolition, confrontations erupted between local Palestinian youth and the Israeli occupation forces, who fired live ammunition, sound grenades, and tear gas. As a result, one young Palestinian man was shot in the thigh by Israeli live ammunition, and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Approximately a month ago, Israeli occupation forces had taken measurements of the Sabah family home in preparation for its demolition, along with three other houses in the area.

The Sabah family house is an apartment in a three-story building that is shared by four families, totaling 16 residents. This act is part of Israel's punitive home demolition policy against the families of Palestinians involved in anti-occupation activities.

Sabah, 24 years old at the time, was killed on June 20 by a special unit of the Israeli occupation army in the town of Tubas. His killing came shortly after the killing of Muhannad Shahada, a fellow resident of Urif, who was shot by an Israeli settler on the Ramallah-Nablus road.

The alleged reason for these incidents was their carrying out of a shooting that resulted in the deaths of four Israeli settlers and injuries to others.
