GAZA, Wednesday, October 11, 2023 (WAFA) - Journalist Mohammad Fayez Abu Matar was killed today in an Israeli bombing of Rafah Governorate, south of the Gaza Strip, according to WAFA correspondent.
He said that Abu Matar, a freelance photographer working with international agencies, was covering the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip when he was killed in the bombings on Rafah.
With the killing of Abu Matar, the number of journalists killed in the Israeli aggression rises to eight. They included Saeed al-Taweel, Mohammad Sobh, Hisham al-Nawajha, Ibrahim Lafi, Mohammad Jarghoun, Mohammad al-Salhi, and Asaad Shamlikh.
The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate condemned in a statement the killing of journalists in the Gaza Strip, calling on the International Federation of Journalists, the Union of Arab Journalists, and all international institutions affiliated with the United Nations and international human rights institutions “to take action to protect Palestinian journalists and stop the murders committed in a systematic manner and by an official decision of the Israeli occupation government against Palestinian journalists.”
