GAZA, October 7, 2023 (WAFA) – Over 20,300 Palestinians have sought refuge in schools run by the UN Refugee and Works Agency (UNRWA) across the Gaza Strip amidst an ongoing Israeli aggression on the enclave, which has so far resulted in at least 313 deaths, the majority of them civilians.
Adnan Abu Hasna, the Media Advisor for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), stated that as of yesterday, 44 UNRWA schools, including 28 equipped for housing, have received displaced families from various provinces in Gaza, with the exception of Khan Yunis.
He noted that the displaced population have primarily concentrated in northern Gaza, the eastern border, and southern Gaza, with expectations of an increase in their numbers in the coming hours.
