RAMALLAH, October 7, 2023 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has strongly condemned the international community's silence in the face of the ongoing Israeli aggression and massacres against Palestinian civilians.
The ministry said in a statement that the killing of civilians under international cover amounts to a war crime, and the international green light for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to commit such atrocities under the pretext of "self-defense" makes the international community complicit in these crimes.
The foreign ministry expressed its surprise at the lack of response from the international community to Israel's unrestrained attacks on the Palestinian people, particularly in Gaza. These attacks have targeted residential areas across Gaza resulting in the murder of 313 Palestinians, with nearly two thousand others injured, including children and women.
The ministry underscored the urgent need to address the collective punitive measures imposed by the occupation state against the Palestinian people. These measures include the cutting of electricity, water, and essential goods in an attempt to starve the population, all of which are considered war crimes under international law.
The ministry also called attention to the ongoing violations and crimes committed by the Israeli occupation in the West Bank, including the complete closure of the territory and the setting-up of checkpoints that restrict the movement of Palestinians, effectively paralyzing their daily lives.
