CAIRO, October 7, 2023 (WAFA) – Palestine’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Ambassador Mohannad Aklouk, announced today that, at orders from the Palestinian leadership, a memorandum has been submitted requesting an emergency meeting of the Arab League's Council of Arab Foreign Ministers to be convened at the earliest possible date.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss ways to politically mobilize both at the Arab and international levels to halt the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza, provide international protection for the Palestinian people, and achieve peace and security based on international law, legitimate international resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative.
Aklouk further added that the urgent meeting comes in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, including the escalation of incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound by thousands of settlers and Israeli officials over the past days. This has been followed by an unprecedented escalation in the Gaza Strip, with Israeli attacks targeting the killing and terrorizing of civilians, the destruction of residential towers and infrastructure.
