Palestinian sustains gunfire injury, dozens suffocate in settler attack near Ramallah

RAMALLAH, Friday, June 23, 2023 (WAFA) – A Palestinian predawn Friday sustained a gunfire injury and dozens others suffocated as Israeli settlers attempted to rampage through Deir Dibwan, east of the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, according to WAFA correspondent.

He said that the army-backed settlers tried to sneak their way into the town, setting fire at the entrance, but local youths, who were on alert, courageously confronted them, forcing them to retreat.

Israeli troops fired volleys of fire towards the town youths, hitting one by a live round in the chest and causing dozens others to suffocate.

Elsewhere in Ramallah district, a few dozen settlers, under army protection, congregated at the western entrance of Beitin village, close to al-Bireh city, and pelted Palestinian vehicles passing nearby with stones, causing damage to them.

Meanwhile, another group of settlers hurled stones toward Palestinian-registered vehicles in al-Fahs area, south of Hebron city, smashing their windshields.

Settler violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.

Settler violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.

There are over 700,000 Israeli settlers living in colonial settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
