Prime Minister urges Germany to press Israel to abide by signed agreements

RAMALLAH, Thursday, June 1, 2023 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh called today on Germany to press Israel to abide by the signed agreements and allow the Palestinian elections to be held in all of the Palestinian territories, including in occupied Jerusalem.

His call was made during a meeting today in Ramallah with visiting President of the German Bundesrat, Peter Tschentscher, in the presence of the Head of the Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany to the State of Palestine, Ambassador Oliver Owcza.

The Prime Minister briefed Tschentscher on the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, especially in view of the changes facing the region and the world, the political vacuum facing the Palestinian cause, and the efforts made to revive the Arab Peace Initiative.

Shtayyeh also called on the German guest to press Israel to release the withheld bodies of the Palestinians killed by Israeli occupation forces, and to stop all unfair financial deductions from the tax funds Israel collects on behalf of the Palestinian Authority.

Shtayyeh and Tschentscher discussed strengthening joint cooperation and bilateral relations between the two countries at all levels, especially in the areas of renewable energy and information technology.
