NEW YORK, Saturday, May 13, 2023 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas arrived today in New York where he is scheduled to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the mass ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people in 1948, or the Nakba.

The President is expected to deliver a keynote speech at the United Nations headquarters on May 15 marking the Nakba Day, the tragic events of May 1948 when hundreds of thousands were expelled from their homes by invading Zionist militias.

The President is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Ziyad Abu Amr, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Riyad Al-Maliki, Chief Justice of Palestine Mahmoud Al-Habbash, Advisor to the President for Diplomatic Affairs Majdi Al-Khalidi, General Supervisor of Official Media Minister Ahmed Assaf, and the Permanent Representative of Palestine to the United Nations Ambassador Riyad Mansour.
