JERUSALEM, Wednesday, April 5, 2023 (WAFA) - The Islamic Waqf (Endowment) Department, which is in charge of Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, strongly condemned the Israeli occupation police’s storming of Al-Qibli mosque of Al-Aqsa Mosque compound before dawn today, the desecration of the sanctity of the mosque, the assault and severe beatings of the worshippers, the intentional breaking of the windows and doors of the mosque, the forceful evacuation of Al-Qibli mosque, and the arrest of more than 400 of the worshippers.
It considered in a statement these actions a flagrant violation of the sanctity of the mosque as a place of worship for Muslims only, as well as a blatant and unacceptable violation of the authority of the Waqf department as the party in charge of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Waqf appealed to the Jordanian Hashemite guardianship over Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Arab and Islamic worlds, and the international community to put an end to these attacks and incursions against the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, the sanctity of the holy month of Ramadan, the right of Muslim worshipers to practice the Muslim rituals at the Mosque at all times and protect their mosque from the incitement and threat of Jewish extremists who do not respect the sanctity of a Mosque or the feelings of Muslims nor do they care about the consequences of their reckless provocative attacks against the Mosque in this holy month of Ramadan.
