NABLUS, Monday, March 27, 2023 (WAFA) – For the third day in a row, Israeli army checkpoints continue to stop and delay movement of Palestinians traveling between the north and center and south of the West Bank.
Witnesses said army checkpoints at Hawara, south of Nablus, stop Palestinian commuters seeking to travel south to Ramallah and delay their arrival at their workplaces and universities or for any other reason, particularly during the holy fast month of Ramadan when people travel to celebrate the month with their relatives across the West Bank.
Even side roads Palestinians used to take to avoid the checkpoint and the long delays were also blocked by the army to further restrict the movement of the Palestinians, said the witnesses and commuters on the roads.
The army had even put up metal gates at the checkpoints to close them at will to totally halt travel on these vital roads.
Israeli officials had recently called for “wiping out” the town of Hawara so that settlers can freely roam the roads of the occupied West Bank.
