RAMALLAH, Friday, January 6, 2023 (WAFA) – The ministry of foreign affairs and expatriates welcomed in a statement today the position of the member states of the UN Security Council, which clearly affirmed the rejection of changing the historical, legal, and political status of holy sites in Jerusalem, particularly al-Aqsa mosque.
The ministry also welcomed the international consensus during the UNSC session on rejecting the Israeli Jewish supremacist Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s provocative storming of the al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.
The ministry slammed Ben Gvir’s storming of al-Aqsa mosque as incitement and provocation that comes as part of his positions aimed at changing its status quo.
It affirmed its continuous call for the UNSC to translate its positions into actions and measures that ensure non-repetition of violations carried out by Ben Gvir and his followers and make certain that the status quo of Muslim and Christian holy sites is not altered.
