UPDATE: Palestinians injured during clashes in multiple areas across Hebron

HEBRON, Tuesday, 20 December 2022 (WAFA) – Several Palestinians were shot and injured with live ammunition and rubber-coated-steel bullets, while many others suffocated by tear gas fired by Israeli forces during clashes that broke out in multiple areas in the Hebron area, in the southern West Bank, according to security sources.

Clashes broke out in al-Aroub refugee camp to the north of Hebron, during which forces fired live ammunition against the camp residents, shooting and injuring three youths in their legs. Others were reportedly injured after being struck with rubber-coated steel bullets.

Many others suffocated due to tear gas inhalation.

Clashes also took place at the entrance to the town of Beit Ummar, causing a number of people to suffocate and faint due to tear gas inhalation. Forces further took over the rooftops of several houses and commercial shops in the town.

Similar clashes were witnessed in Bab al-Zawyeh area, in central Hebron, leading to several suffocation cases among Palestinians.

Clashes renewed tonight in the town of Beit Ummar as Israeli forces attacked a march condemning the Israeli crimes and the crimes of the Israeli prison service which led to the killing of prisoner Abu Hmaid. A Palestinian youth was shot and injured with live ammunition in the foot, and several others suffocated by tear gas during the clashes.

The Palestinian national factions, including Fatah, called for marches to protest Israel’s crimes against prisoners and the killing of cancer-stricken Palestinian prisoner in Israeli jails Naser Abu Hmaid, who was declared dead this morning.
