NABLUS, Thursday, October 13, 2022 (WAFA) - A journalist was injured and others suffocated today as Israeli settlers, backed by Israeli forces, attacked Palestinians passing through the main street in central Huwwara to the south of Nablus, according to a local official.

Ghassan Daghlas, an official in charge of the settlement file in the northern West Bank, said Palestinians fended off the attack, leading to clashes with Israeli army soldiers who provided protection to settlers.

Forces attacked Palestinians and commercial shops in the area with a barrage of tear gas canisters, causing several people to suffocate. A journalist was also injured in the attack after being struck in the knee with a tear gas canister.

Forces also attacked shop owners and destroyed at least 15 stores and 20 vehicles that were parked along the main street.

Settlers’ violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.
