Israel demolishes house in unrecognized village in Naqab

NAQAB, Wednesday, September 21, 2022 (WAFA) – The Israeli authorities today demolished a house in the unrecognized village of al-Buqei'a in the Naqab.

The house owner, Salem Abu ‘Asida, said that Israeli troops escorted a bulldozer to the village, where the heavy machinery knocked down his own house purportedly for being built without a license, rendering his 14-member family homeless.

He added that the troops also detonated his water tanks and threw his wheat crop on the floor.

There has been an upsurge in the demolitions of the property of Palestinian citizens of Israel across Israel, including in Tayibe and Qalansawe cities in central Israel; Ein Mahil and Kafr Yasif towns and Shefa-Amr city in northern Israel; Yaffa, Lidd, Umm al-Fahm cities, Sakhnin and Hurfeish town in addition to the property of Palestinians living in unrecognized villages, such as al-Araqeeb, which has been demolished recently for 206 consecutive time since July 27, 2010.

The villagers of al-Buqei'a were originally expelled from their original lands near Dimona following the establishment of Israel in 1948.

The Israeli authorities have served the villagers, currently estimated at 1,000 people, notices to forcefully displace them.
